The purpose of this site is to describe the collaborative workings of the Santiago Math Department specifically the Geometry Professional Learning Committee(PLC). These working occur face to face on our site, via email and text, and hopefully through an online collaborative library. The goal of this Capstone Project is to create a digital library and discussion board for the Geometry PLC. With the transition to Common Core Standards and Mathematics Practices as well as to Integrated Math, I feel that collaboration and discussion among peers is of the utmost importance. I want to create a place where teachers can access lessons but also comment on them with the desired outcome of bringing about the best lessons our teachers can implement in their classroom.
Vision Story - If the Capstone project comes to be successful, I envision collaborative groups of teachers who trust each other, work together efficiently, discuss best practices in an open and professional manner to grow as teaching professionals to provide their students the best of their art of teaching. I envision a centralized virtual meeting place where the practice of teaching is refined and continuously improved upon at the site level. This virtual meeting place would also serve as a library of lessons, assessments and other curricular materials to assist in the instruction of our students.
